How do you wash your hands in a sink with two faucets?

In England ,I have seen the sink has two faucets, one with very hot water, and one with icy cold water. How do you wash your hands if your goal is washing with warm water, and to get done quickly?

Is this a trick question? You open the hot water faucet -assuming you have to wait for hot water to raise- and then you do a very quick test by dipping your hand in it until it feels warm, at that point, turn on the cold water and balance until you get the desire temperature. Or... you could just leave the restroom without washing your hands and tell everyone you did anyway. That's what I do...

The question is refering to a sink with TWO water spouts. A separate spout for hot and cold water - the point being that you cant adjust the temperature bicause the water doesnt mix!!

I've seen these sinks in older buildings here in the US also. I usually just turn both spouts on medium and real quickly go back and forth between the two water-streams! Oh yeah, if you do that, make sure you start with cold FIRST! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=1006033020781&kid=NbUvWDO.WDBg3WWZIrJI&s=comm&date=2006-06-04+09%3A54%3A20&.crumb=

Oh dear, you do find foreign places difficult.

Put the plug in the sink, open taps and fill bowl, adjusting flows to get preferred temperature.

generally it helps to

First)place a stopper in the sink

Second)turn the hot tap on

Third)turn on the cold tap

Fourth) fill sink

Fifth) wash hands !!

the secret to doing this quickly is to do it fast

OOH ancient Dude! Two faucets yuch! Try filling the sink ( they do have them don't they) with water of a correct temperature and scrub them with soap ant the water

Don't turn on the hot tap first, you could scold your hand. Always run a little cold water into the basin first, then add hot water until it feels just right. You can do this quite quickly - no need to fill the bowl.

And yes, mixer taps do exist in UK, but not everybody wants them.

Either really quick before the hot tap gets too hot, or put in the plug and fill the sink with water at the desired temp. Or carry anti-bacterial liquid and forget the water!

It takes so long for the water to get hot that I just use the hot tap, its usually warm.
